I wanted to add this to the last/next ‘Beatles are rubbish’ thread but it wasn’t available. Someone had now kindly uploaded the relevant show, I think it must be worth a thread of its own.

Maybe Americans aren’t aware of Howard Goodall? He pops up from time to time in the UK fronting musical programmes of various kinds. Here he does a really fascinating analysis of several tracks on Sgt Pepper - strong, insightful, intelligent stuff:

He also did a nice piece on where The Beatles place in terms of 20th century composers, and actually beyond the 20th century. Again, insightful and interesting:

This is proper sit down and immerse yerself telly. It's at least 1 1/2 hours in all. I hope some find it worth their time :)

With my internet connection, it’s more like 3 years, 4 months, 7 day and a couple thousand dollars.

The Daily Motion video looks like the negative was flopped, and the songs play at a slow speed. I lasted about 3 minutes.

Couldn’t watch, it was too slow.
Anyway I never listen when folks tell me what music to love or hate.
I like what I like.
The heart wants what the heart wants.
It illogical.

Yes same here. Looks interesting but I’d need to see it via a better source.

If you over over the video there is a settings menu. Change the speed to 1.25%.
