Stupid thing, really… Put a disk in, nothing happened. Won’t turn, eject, acknowledge the OS (Windows), or anything. Any suggestions?
Most (but not all) CD drives have a small pinhole in the front where you can insert a straightened paperclip to force a manual eject.
If you’re comfortable with opening your computer case, check to make sure that the power cable and ribbon cable haven’t come loose from the CD drive.
Good luck.
Various possibilities:
- Check for power.
- Check ribbon cable connector.
- Straighten a Jumbo paper clip one turn. (first bend)
- Insert straight length throuh small hole in rear of CD drive till it releases tray!
Voila! - Call the Computer Geeks.
- Buy a new CD Drive.
