"Stuck in the Middle with You" is not by Bob Dylan

For all you music idiots out there, I would like to inform you that the song “Stuck in the Middle with You” was not written, nor is it performed by Bob Dylan. So access your MP3 collection and change it to its proper artist which is Stealer’s Wheel.

Despite the fact that Bob Dylan has written many many songs, and that his songs have been covered time and time again, this is not one of them.

WHY CAN’T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS!!??

Everytime I’m in the mood to download some new Dylan, I have to deal with “Stuck in the Middle with You” popping up in the results.

Arg. Know your music and stop disgracing great artists like Bob Dylan.

(Thank you to the people who do take the time to attribute the proper song to the proper artist)

While I’m on an MP3 file sharing rant…

Why can’t people share their MP3’s? I think it’s impolite to download music without sharing. Isn’t that lesson #1 in preschool? Sharing? And if you’re just protecting yourself, then you shouldn’t be downloading anything.

It’s the spirit of the movement, people! Share your stolen music!! It came from someone who shared!

Meh.

Did you post this rant to show us what a wonderful student of contemporary music-history you are, or is there something more?

I think it is clear that you are a Dylan fan, but to be perfectly honest, I don’t think he would give a monkey’s pistle whether ‘Stuck in the Middle’ was attributed to him falsely or otherwise.

So, is there anything else?

:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m annoyed that people don’t take the time to be sure that the music they are sharing is correctly labeled. It’s annoying when you download something that turns out to be something entirely different from what it says it is.

I wasn’t trying to show off, but I was hoping some fellow music lovers would respond

Sorry, still in shock.
. . . Dylan? “Stuck in the Middle”. . . Dylan?

. . . Dylan?

What kind of . . .?

How . . .?

Dylan?
I think my only response about whoever wrote that label has to be, “The man ain’t got no cuhlchuh.”

In a similar vein:

No, Janis Joplin did NOT do White Rabbit.

Not EVERY song parody under the sun was done by Weird Al Yankovic.

And must you put “illegal preteen” in the title of every single movie you’re sharing? (See also related comic )

A-men!

I am not alone!!! deep sigh of relief

For another thing, and this applies to more than just file-sharing…

The song is not called “Everybody Must Get Stoned”

I once saw this actress on some late night talk show that actually met Bob Dylan and worked with him for some movie. She related that Bob Dylan had asked her what her favorite song of his was. She responded by singing “Everybody must get stoned…” Did she realize that by saying that she revealed that she knows nothing of his music? Unfortunately, I don’t think so… sigh

I had to download three different things before I actually got Debussy’s Claire de Lune. arg.

You DO realize that this will be closed soon… don’t you?

Your complaints that the stolen material was mislabelled are unlikely to garner all that much sympathy here. Of course, I may be mistaken…

It’s like when you mug someone and the watch turns out to be a Rolox.

Don’t think twice, it’s alright.

You get what you fucking pay for, you fuck.
Wahhhh! When I steal music, sometimes it’s mislabled! Whaaaa!
This is the most idiotic OP I have seen here in some time.
Why not go out and buy a fucking Dylan CD. I bet the tracks are labeled correctly on that, moron.

I hope someone out there labels heavy metal death rock as Dylan, just for this Jerkoff.

Fuckface.

I’d just like to say that “Stuck In The Middle With You” is by Stealers Wheel; no apostrophe. If you’re going to do a dumb rant about accuracy perhaps you should check these things.

And you can tell it’s not by Bob Dylan because :

a/ It’s excellent.
b/ It’s witty, not a sour-faced, moaning dirge.
c/ The singing is in tune.

It is a disgrace that people should confuse the two. You are right, but for entirely the wrong reasons.

Whoa, hold on now, Dylan happens to be one of the great American poets of our time and while perhaps not up to your “pop tunes” standards, well that doesn’t make it bad. As far as that a/b/c stuff, well I think it’s time for you to take that back and apologize, right now.

I agree with Futile Gesture on all points!

I think you’re talkin’ 'bout Dylan Thomas. Whoever he was.

I can’t believe there are actually people out there who think “In the Hall of the Mountain King” was by Richard freakin’ Wagner! And don’t even get me started on the ones who think that Peer Gynt was the name of the composer

K-Billy’s Super Sounds of the 70’s disapproves of this mislabelling catastrophe.

But this isn’t the best Dylan-related rant I’ve seen this month, there’s a nice article in the January issue of Reason thoroughly mocking the terrible song “Lily, Rosemary, and the Queen of Hearts”, forced rhymes unseen since Black Sabbath felt compelled to rhyme “masses” with “masses”.

Yeah, but he can’t sing. Or play guitar. Or the harmonica.

For God’s sake, the harmonica…

FYI: The lead singer of Stealers Wheel was Gerry Rafferty. He went on to have a big hit in the late seventies with the song “Baker Street.”
