Um, I just realized that I’m even more desperate than I thought…
That’s a very good point. They started the series out by saying that Studio 60 used to be great when Matt, Danny and the guy that quit (wonder if we’re ever going to see him again?) were making it, and it was tanking because the acting talent wasn’t good enough to save it. Now that they’ve got Matt & Danny back, the talent is godlike and can make any joke work. The hell?
I’m sure the cast has changed significantly since the first time Danny & Matt worked there. Harriet was new then, and I think Jeanie WTLBH was there (her and Matt seem to have some kind of long history together, either as friends or booty calls). I got the impression that Simon didn’t know them too well during the pilot. And they knew Cal, of course - the crew wouldn’t have as big a turnover rate as the cast.
Of course, this is all just what I’ve inferred fromm conversations Matt and Danny have had with various people throughout the run of the show so far - I have absolutely nothing solid to back up my impressions.
What exactly was Danny’s job back when they were first on the show? He’s not a writer or performer. Wes was the producer back then, so he couldn’t have been doing his current job.
Wes was the head writer, with Matt working for him. That’s why Matt took over his office, with the 7 day reverse clock. Danny had the same job he had now.
I’m not 100% certain but I’m pretty sure Wes was the producer and Rickey and Ron were the head writers prior to Matt and Danny’s return. From all indications, Danny worked for Wes not the other way around.
I guess we’ll see in next week’s episode.
I thought Danny was also a writer, but switched to producing when he and Matt left the show. That way they could stay together on movie projects.
Well, you can’t smell her pheromones through the screen. And they have **History,**which affects the mind in particular ways.
…And some of us find the dolphin voice cute.
I liked the bit about sending a coyote after the ferret after the snake, I gotta say. They should have started the sequence with a spider, of course, sending the snake after the spider (that wiggled and jiggled and tickled) … Yeah, it smacks of 1950s sit-com, but I thought it was pretty funny.
I couldn’t but help the same thing, right from the beginning. Since I always loved that story as a child, I was very amused with the subplot. And for some reason Bevo made me laugh.
I was disappointed with the show this week. Last week I said something like: I usually agree with most of the comments, but I don’t watch that closely, I just enjoy the show.
This week I can only say that I pretty much agree with many of the comments.
And I still detest the Simon subplot.
The only character I enjoy watching on this show now is Tom Jeter. Nate Corddry is doing a very good job with that character - for one thing, he’s the only one of the bunch who seems like he actually belongs on a comedy show. The rest of them are a bunch of humorless, self-centered idiots.
Oh, and I’ve grown to like the Jack Rudolf character as well. He has hidden dimensions that you see on occasion.
The rest of it - meh. Honest to god, until they actually started tearing up the floor I thought those whole snake-ferret-coyote thing was going to turn out to be a gag played by Danny or something. It was too stupid for words. I can’t believe any writer expected us to believe that plot line.
