After re-reading World War Z (great book!), I’ve realized that I really like the writing style of the interview. I understand that Mr. Terkel is famous for this.
Can anyone give me a good book of his to start with? Should I just go with the one about WWII?
Thanks in advance!
The only one I’ve read is American Dreams: Lost and Found, which I enjoyed very much. But his definitive work is supposed to be Working.
Division Street USA is also a good choice
Read all of it, but take a few years – there’s no hurry. Terkel is like Joseph Mitchell – you lose a lot if you try to cram decades into weeks.
In any event, start with Working.
Thanks for the recommends you fine people. I think I’ll start with Working!
