Study: Sleeping position reveals personality

Me too. I cannot fall asleep any other way and I distrust people who sleep on their backs. there’s something wrong about that.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

(I can’t help it if anatomical constraints make it extremely uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach. Besides, how can you breathe properly with the oxygen deprivation that comes from sleeping with your neck twisted to one side? Hmmm, now that I think about it, maybe that explains a few things…)

I’m shy and sensitive, so please don’t make fun of me or I might cry. If you need me, I’ll be over in my corner looking at the floor.

I must be a complete weirdo…a couple times a month I sleep in bed upside down, with my head at the footboard and feet at the headboard; a few nights later, I just climb back into bed the right way and don’t do it again for another couple weeks.

In both positions, I usually sleep on my stomach on top of my hands.

What does it mean if you sleep on your back, head turned a little to one side, with one arm resting on your torso and the other tucked under your head or pillow?

I never could sleep on my stomach… when I try, I start thinking about how easily someone could jump on my back, put one arm in a hammerlock, push my face into the pillow, and suffocate me.
A train of thought NOT conducive to restful sleep!

I sleep on my side with my arms under my pillow. When I’m sick, I sleep basically sitting up - its actually not that uncomfortable.

I sleep on my sides, and almost always wake up in the same position that I fall asleep in. Occasionally, I do fall asleep on my back, but only rarely.

You are weird. . . but I guess that’s the kind of thoughts you have when you are Vlad Dracul.

OTOH, I go to sleep every night imagining some sweet girl whispering in my ear which is much more pleasant and leads to sweet dreams (wet or dry?).

When I see people sleeping on their backs they look extremely uncomfortable to me. It just looks strange and uncomfortable. Plus they have more of a tendency to snore.

Stomach…side…back…other side…rinse…repeat until morning.

No wonder I wake up so damn tired.

I start off on my back, with my hands crossed over my belly, because my cat thinks that it is her God-given right to sleep on my thighs. When I have had enough of this, I go fetal, with her curled up in a ball in the middle.

“Quiet and reserved” have never been used to describe me. Never. Nor will they. And “shy and sensitive” is my dirty little secret, so don’t tell anyone, 'kay?

But the bit with the cat, does that make me a pussy-pushover? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sleep? What is this thing you call “sleep”?

I’m shy, sensitive, and suspicious? Okokokokokokokokokokokokokok… OK!! I am, I am. Don’t look at me that way.
I switch sides every so often but it’s always the side, pillow ‘tween me leggies… errr, NOT because I’m in heat or anythin’ just more comfy! Got into that habit during my pregnancy, so there! Neener neener neener!

Hmmm. I sleep partially on my stomach and partially to one side, with one arm under the pillow and the other one clutching a corner of blanket under my chin. I can only do this facing to my right. If I face to my left, my right arm cannot be under the pillow for some reason, it’s only comfortable under my chin on top of the pillow. The hand clutching the blanket under my chin comes from my childhood of having a stuffed rabbit in that spot.

I don’t believe it, but I also don’t put much credence in any study or system that says you can tell all about a person from a single behaviour. Seems like a Gross Oversimplifcation at best, like some variation of astrology.
I wouldn’t know where to put myself I tried, because I’m rarely in one position all night. Not that I can really keep track while I’m asleep, but I’ve gone to sleep on my stomach, woken up on my back, gone to sleep on my side, woken up on my stomach, etc, etc. I think the only one I’ve never done is fetal position, though I can only tell you in what positions I wake up in.

So assuming the study is true, where does that put me?

I’m brash and quiet and gregarious and reserved. I don’t think I’ve ever slept on my back…(at least as far as I can remember) because my lower back gets tight and uncomfortable.

I either fall asleep on my stomach (when I could) or in a fetal position if it’s pretty cold. Sometimes it’s a matter of tossing and turning until I find a comfy spot and I’ve had roomies ask how I can sleep in such weird twisted positions (ie half on my stomach, half not, stuffed into a corner, partial fetal position)

It seems to me that there is more of us who sleep on our stomachs than 6.5% . When I read the article I thought to myself there had to be more than 6.5% of people who are normal
