Awww, you guys make me want to go eat as much as possible just in case it’s not here tomorrow.
The NY Seltzer is something I so miss..can’t get anything that compares. There are so many kinds but nothing that comes close. SoylentJuicy, my mom has gotten DoubleMint since I was a kid and I remember the foil. Plus, they don’t use sugar, they use aspartame. Ugh…changes it. Doug, I remember those. Were my fave because I loved whacking them on a table but since they were a little chewy, it hardly ever worked. OMG…I miss them. Joey, I totally forgot about those smores! I loved them because our fam are smores addicts. They were so easy.
As for what things have been discontinued, off the top of my head, I have two perfumes I’ve held onto. One was Fresh’s Memoirs of a Geisha…smells so light but sweet. No other cherry blossom perfume compares. I even have a pearl dusting powder that I could use instead. God. Another just got discontinued by Crazy Libellule and the poppies, it smells like sugared lilacs and it was a solid perfume.
In addition I have found Adidas discontinued a cotton deodorant that worked perfect. Now they put triclosan in it that ends up making you smellier due to more bacteria coming out to play. Plus, Origins reformulated their concealer and it is horrible for oily skin.
On the fashion side, Bali and several other brands have discontinued bras that worked soooo well. I was sad because now I’m stuck trying to find a bra that works and have yet to when I found bras that fit so well before. All that stupid foam out…who the hell cares if I have nipples? I don’t. I’m human.
I’m sure there’s more but that’s enough depression for a bit. lol
I just remembered: Snyder’s of Hanover pretzel bites in the New York Reuben flavor. Christ, I swear, they were rye pretzels. They were divine. I don’t think they tasted anything like a Reuben, which is good, 'cause I don’t like Reubens. But man, I loved those things. They were discontinued sometime in 2005.
I don’t remember anything like that, but I loved Shrinky-Dinks, and when I was about 7, I thought my Incredible Shrunken Head kit was the best. (You made shrunken voodoo heads out by drying out apples, putting hair on em and little black beads for eyes.)
Was the Thingmaker the same as Creepy Crawlers? I had one of those back in the early 90s as a kid.
Now that I think about it, one of those would be awesome for making plastic fishing baits, if they had a more sophisticated mold system that would allow you to mold both sides instead of just having one side be flat.
Just My Size used to have the nicest ladies’ underwear and shapewear, now it’s just crap, and they discontinued their shapwear line. Their jeans were long wearing and fitted well and went the same way.
Avon’s just as bad. They used to have a gel moisturizer that moisturized my skin and didn’t make it oily and they no longer carry it here in the US. And that’s the least of their sins :x
Doritos Light. I loved those things. I’d get those and some light sour cream (NOT fat-free, that stuff is disgusting) and have myself a guilt-free snack. Baked Doritos are just not the same and they have more calories anyway.
Dunno why they stopped selling them. It can’t simply be because of the Olestra used to make them, because I can still find the Light versions of both Lay’s and Ruffles (which I can eat, but don’t like as much because they tend to leave a tallowy feeling in my mouth). Sometimes, life just ain’t fair!
Awww…I loved Shrinky Dinks. I would buy some everytime I went to Michaels or Disneyland. It was my souvenir. They were pointless besides the awesome craft you do with them. Other than that, they cluttered like crazy. I feel a gut-wrenching regret I didn’t get more.
The Thingmaker made a variety of things. Creepy Crawlers was one set of the things it would make, which consisted of Icky Bugs, and was marketed to boys. The Fun Flowers set consisted of of flowers and “cute” bugs, like butterflies and ladybugs.
As for making fishing baits, you could always glue two halves together, and in fact some Thingmaker toys required the maker to glue fronts to backs, or tops to bottoms. However, the Plastigoop smelled nasty, and I’m not sure any self-respecting fish could bring itself to bite it.
Ambush cologne by Dana. The old stuff from the 70’s not the reformulated crap they have now. Tussy roll-on deoderant. Supercheap and worked great. In fact it’s almost impossible to find ANY roll-on anymore. I don’t know why.
Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific shampoo, Agree shampoo, and the original formula for Herbal Essence shampoo. In fact, every time I’ve found a shampoo that I like, it’s been discontinued. I like shampoos that leave a noticeable but faint scent behind (I don’t wear perfume). Not a single shampoo or body wash available in this day and age does that.
And yeah, I know that GYHST shampoo is supposedly available online but it sells for about 14.99 an 8oz bottle, and I’ve heard from people that it doesn’t smell at all like the original.
Holy shit, there actually was a kit similar to the Thingmaker specifically designed for making fishing baits! This looks like it would be AWESOME to own! I wish I had one.
Do you know what I remember and I wish it was still made? The lip balm that was made in sliding tins. I know there are a few companies that are bringing them back but it was nothing like the one they used to make of course. Fourth Grade Nothing: Village Lip Lickers | Lip Balm or Gloss in a Tin
Another product I loved was Tinkerbell makeup…It was so cute! I loved that it smelled appropriate for girls. It was so fun!
