Stunned by great service

I had much the same thing happen to me at Taco Cabana- I ordered a combo and an extra taco, and the drive-through person gave me a larger soda than I’d ordered and explained that if I’d ordered it “Cabana-Sized”, I’d have got the extra taco, and an upgrade on the soda essentially for free (I think it was like 12 cents more). She didn’t charge me the extra 12 cents either, and recommended ordering it that way in the future because “some of the other jerks who work here will just let you spend more money than you need to.”

However, for stellar service, it’s hard to beat British Airways.

Last time I flew from Dallas to Heathrow, I had a connecting flight to Rome also on BA. Our flight to London was delayed, so we landed without much time to spare. Unlike most American carriers, who would have happily let me miss my connecting flight in the other terminal and not lifted a finger, BA got a special bus for those of us on the particular flights out of that other terminal, flagged our bags special, and even detailed an employee to specifically jockey our little crowd through Heathrow and got us priority security screening- they had us skip ahead of 75 or more people waiting in line.

And you know what, we didn’t miss our flight and our bags made it to Rome on the same plane!

A few months ago I finally called in a handyman to fix a couple of drippy bath/shower faucets that had stymied me.

He identified it as wornout “positemp cartridges” and went off to the plumbing supply store for new ones. The plumbing supply guy said these were $50 parts when he sells them, but that Moen would replace them for free, if you called them.

We did. I told them they were installed when the house was built 17 years ago so I had no documention of any sort, but that I had two faulty ones. They promptly shipped a couple of free replacements.
