The Goonies
Bedknobs and Broomsticks(well, mostly for the big battle at the end, though I occasionally get Purtobello road stuck in my head).
The Road to El Dorado(The first few songs are rather catchy, the buddy aspect works pretty well and I’ve got a thing for lost cities).
Neverending Story
Bill and Ted’s Excellant Adventure(I never tire of watching that).
Oh, I liked that too. I remember saying when it first came out that it was like a million other clever kid movies I’d seen before, but it was funny because it was so much more violent than earlier specimens. There have been so many copycats since that it’s hard to remember feeling that way about the genre, but I still enjoy it when I catch a few minutes on the tube.

I see no shame in liking The Princess Diaries. Yes, the story line is about becoming a princess. But the movie makes it clear that being a princess isn’t just about waving and having lots of money. It’s also about being well mannered, accepting responsibility, acting graciously under pressure and treating people respectfully.
The main character is presented as someone picked on and awkward who finally musters the courage to tell off the school bullies.
The muppets meet glam-rock transvestism starring Bowie in ball-hugging tights and a hair-metal fright mullet. What’s stupid about it? Well, who the hell decided this subversively-sexy freak show was a kid’s movie? Anyhow, moments like “You remind me of the babe!” just lodge insideously in my brain, and I can’t stop watching.
