This is a bit of a rant that doesn’t quite feel pit worthy.
Actually I’m not really mad at Wo-Ping because from every I’ve heard he was fighting to make the movie as realistic as possible. I had such great hope for the movie, having heard such great things about it. I liked the movie, and thought it was one of the most creative story lines I have seen recently, but what the hell was up with the Peter-Pan crap? I’ve never scene such absurd wire work outside of a Kung Fu Farce. The fights that there were were damn good, and if they had been taken the time devoted to walking on air, it might have rivaled Fist of Legend in terms of really good Kung Fu movies, But as it was the whole things was very distracting from the movie. If he was going for mysticism then there should have been an effort to explain it, rather than having seemingly normal people walk up straight walls. Hell, at one point Chow Yun Fat did a superman and pointed his arm to the air and flew up the the roof. Plus what was up with the flying through the trees scene, that made no sence, and didn’t contribute to the story whatsoever. There were so many interesting characters that were fighting for screen time and didn’t get it, that the wasted time floating through the air just wrecked a good movie
