While we were stationed in Hawaii, my mother in law had to have serious back surgery and wanted Mr. SCL to come home. She had to go through the Red Cross to get compassionate leave for him. The guy she was talking to kept asking for our APO number. She kept telling him we were in Hawaii and Hawaii is a state, so it uses addresses. He kept on asking for the APO number since we were “overseas”.
