Short version: Dubai is subject to Sharia law. A man can’t be convicted of rape unless he confesses or the rape is witnessed by four other men. If a woman is raped and accuses her rapist, all he has to do is deny the rape and he’ll be found non guilty. And then, based on her “confession” that she had sex with the man, she’ll be convicted of extramarital sex with the additional charge of perjury for her “false” accusation. There have been several reports of foreign women accusing local men of rape and being themselves imprisoned and the thread was based on a recent incident.

And when it’s pointed out to him that being raped is not committing a crime, he doesn’t back down. He insists the women must have done something illegal to cause the rapes.
