Stupid falling pine trees

Sometimes I hate pine trees. Like when the sorry stupid things fall or drop branches during windstorms.

We had a little wind blow through last night, and it blew down a tree in my yard. Now we have to pick up the pieces, get some other trees taken down too, and repair the damage caused to our neighbor’s house.

Not the best time for this to happen, since I’ve been laid off my job.

:frowning:

Sympathy would be appreciated…

you do indeed have my sympathy. few things suck as bad as when Mother Nature decides to throw a tantum and YOU get stuck with the clean-up and the bills.

ooops! too fast with the Submit…

doesn’t Homeowners’ insurance cover storm-related damage? and if so, wouldn’t that also apply to damage to your neighbor’s house caused by objects on your property (i’m assuming the trees here)?

Yarg. That sucks. Much sympathy.

If it makes you feel any better, I’m unemployed, and our cat just got sick for the third time in six months. We may have to get him $1000 surgery. :frowning:

Just after we moved into our house, a large oak let go of a branch and crushed the corner of our garage roof. Insurance paid for the garage repair as well as removal of the tree, which, it seems, had been killed by the heavy construction equipment. The insurance guy did an estimate and cut us a check, minus our deductible. We found someone to do the repair/removal for the amount of the check, so we got away with paying no deductible.

Thanks, guys/gals–

The thing re homeowner’s insurance these days, though, is that they cancel on your a** if you actually have to make claims on it. We had one claim about 4 years ago. There was an ice storm, and one branch from another stupid pine tree punched through our roof. So now we’re scared to file.(1) I think we can handle the cost though, if the damage to my neighbor’s house isn’t too extensive.

And yes, we’re getting other stupid pine trees that might become a problem taken down. More expense there, but an investment in peace of mind (we hope!)

And Lissla Lissar, I sympathize with the cat health issue! We have 4 dogs. 2 are epileptic and on meds, and a third has digestive problems and has to take a supplement with each meal AND thyroid meds. (The 4th dog is just old.)

(1) We won’t go into my rant about insurance agencies that only want to insure you if you NEVER need them here.
