Gun Activists Plan to Stage a Fake Mass Shooting This Weekend
I’m not sure if we covered this last year, but a woman who opened fire on a shoplifter has been sentenced to 18 months probation.
For all of the anybodies in the world, may I just say, “Whew!!”
People in Third World countries are probably wondering what our problem is with Ms. Duva-Rodriguez. After all, she exemplifies our tendency to ‘help’ such countries by dropping bombs on them.
So nobody’s saying anything like that in this thread, but some librul said something like that once upon a time. So that’s why you’re taking issue with stuff that’s been said here.
Gotcha.
This is going to end up being a story line in a crime show. They stage a fake event and someone will use it as a cover to actually shoot and kill someone. It almost writes itself.
Will you be bitterly disappointed if it doesn’t?
That the story doesn’t get used in a show? Because I’m pretty sure that’s what they meant, not that they’re making popcorn in preparation for an actual killing.
The whole problem with the “high-powered” term is the media and gun controllers use it sensationalize their causes.
Of course (most) rifles are high-powered. We use them to kill things.
For comparison, some rifles I own, their cartridges, and the approximate muzzle energy of a typical load. Muzzle energy if the energy of a single bullet as it exits the muzzle. (Not to be confused with muscle energy, or mussel energy, which are different things entirely.)
Henry lever-action .22 rifle. Looks like a cowboy rifle. About 100 ft.-lbs.
AK-47 pattern rifle. Would be prohibited under most all “assault weapons” bans. Caliber 7.62 x 39. About 1500 ft.-lbs.
Remington Woodsmaster semi-auto rifle, caliber .30-06. A deer rifle. About 3000 ft.-lbs.
Marlin 1895G Guide Gun. Another lever-action, like a cowboy’s rifle. Caliber .45-70. About 4000 ft.-lbs. with heavy loads.
Assault rifles were designed to use an intermediate-powered cartridge, somewhere between a submachine gun’s pistol caliber ammo, like 9mm Parabellum or. 45 auto, and a full-powered rifle cartridge, like 8mm Mauser or .30-06 Springfield. This was considered to be powerful enough for most all combat ranges, and allowed the transportation of more ammo.
The 5.56 x 45mm (.223 Remington) cartridge typically chambered by AR-15 rifles is generally-considered too puny for hunting deer, and I illegal for that purpose in some areas. I certainly don’t consider it “high-powered.” Its muzzle energy is about 1300 ft.-lbs.
Of course, there’s more to ballistics than just muzzle energy, especially bullet weight, as a heavier, slower bullet will usually penetrate more than an a lighter, faster one with the same energy.
By way of our good friends at Crooks and Liars, a fart blast from the past, Tom Tancredo. (Who? Oh, right, him!)

Colorado Republican Proposes Welfare Solution: Give Everyone Guns
Nope. Totally not making this up.
Forgotten, but not gone.
HATE SPEECH! HATE SPEECH! I’M SUING! ![]()
Would you prefer “gundamentalists”?
Ballistiphiliacs.
Has anyone tried to market a variation of “truck nuts” to attach to a gun? Sell gun nuts to gun nuts?
Police look for pair after a gun goes off at Fridley Target store
A pretty good photo was included in the article and a good description given. I’m guessing, they’ll be caught in the Dakotas or Wisconsin.
22% of Democrats and 37% of Independents own guns compared to 49% of Republicans. There is not a stark partisan divide on the gun issue except the one that the gun control folks want to create.
When gun control folks marginalize gun owners generally, they alienate a good chunk of the Democratic party and a good chunk of swing voters.
This may be the single worst liberal issue for a Democrat running in a national election. I expect to see “leaked photos” of Hillary duck hunting sometime during the general election.
Really? You have to pass a federal background check to buy a car or alcohol?
You have to fill out a form under penalty of perjury and show two forms of ID to buy something at the liquor store?
I think you are reading hyperbole from some gun control folks and fail to realize it is hyperbole.
Examples, please! How do gun control folks marginalize gun owners as a class?
