Then when it is reported that the NRA is made up of extreme nutcases because extreme nutcases with the tag “NRA Board Member” give soundbites to the press, you and people like you only have yourselves to blame.
When it comes time to report on what the NRA is supposedly all about, guess who the press runs to every time? The jackasses you through your inaction gave the megaphones to.
You’re voting with your wallet for an organization that embraces Nugent, Norquist, North … and probably other bozos whose names begin with N. You recognize that the most active members routinely choose thoroughly objectionable people to be the public face of the organization, and you are OK with that? You go right ahead and send in your dues?
Do you pay dues to the NRA? If so, why? You want the NRA to represent you, claim to find Nugent objectionable, but can’t be arsed to click a box against Nugent?
I wonder if you can grasp how damning your own words are.
Perhaps the NRA needs to find a more appropriate way to conduct elections. One bullet One vote? Shoot at the candidate you don’t like? Do all y’all know how ignorant, preposterous and bombastic y’all seem?
In the wake of [recent massacres] Paul Valone [airline pilot] made a decision to, as he says, “up my game.” [He] swapped his concealed weapon from a seven-round capacity handgun to one with a 25-round clip. And in his car trunk, he boosted his arsenal by adding an AR-15 with multiple clips. … an exercise in meeting force with equal force.
“It’s versatile, and I use it for defense. That’s why it’s ‘America’s rifle,’ ” he says.

What the fuck is wrong with Americans?
This yahoo carries a rifle and ammo in the trunk / boot of his car all the time?
And then people wonder where criminals get weapons from?
Do they not suffer cognitive dissonance at the level of stupidity there?
What does this joker think? He’s going to be driving down the freeway and suddenly pull in some sort The Hills have Eyes gas station?
I donate money on occasion if someone proposes an assault weapons ban or something else that approaches that level of retardedness.
No, they don’t represent me. They protect gun rights and I support them when I think they need support in that endeavor.
That’s about right, in the grand scheme of things I don’t have the time to worry about shit like voting for NRA board, the board of my HOA, the American Bar Association officers, etc. If someone had told me, hey Damuri, the ballot you just got is going to be the one for Ted Nugent, then I would probably have bothered (if it would have made a difference) but no one told me and the board seats are staggered so he only comes up for election ever few years. Its not like the entire board of 50+ members are up for election every year. The last time I looked at a ballot, there were a number of candidates running for an equal number of seats on the board. Pretty much everyone on the ballot was getting elected. You effectively need a write in campaign to get someone else elected. IIRC, the nominees on the ballot are selected by the executive committee, kinda like the supreme council in Iran.
I feel damned by your words.
So the NRA doesn’t conduct its business in a matter that agrees with you? I’m sure they are all torn up about it.
In the meantime they are dominating the gun control debate. Not because of their incredible competency but due to the ineptitude of the gun control side of the debate.
I think we are at the turning point on that. When it was mental cases like Dylann Roof or the Columbine losers, it was harder to make a case that you could prevent guns from getting into the hands of insane killers. But now that there have been two domestic terrorism cases inspired by ISIS, we can put a face on gun violence that resonates with the public. No reasonable person opposes keeping guns out of the hands of potential terrorists, especially the ones who have already been flagged by the FBI. We have already seen some movement this week as the Senate scheduled votes on several gun control bills, something that would never have happened even six months ago. Look to see the monolithic opposition to gun control, even on the right, begin to splinter as the face of gun violence takes on a Muslim countenance.
Hallelujah, the sacred cult of football has quashed a gun crime investigation in Louisiana.
Seems that a couple of Alabama football players were found in a car with dope and guns, one of which was stolen. No problem!
*“I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I’m doing this (not pursuing charges) is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning,” district attorney Jerry Jones told KNOE-TV.
According to the police report, an officer approached the players’ vehicle at a (Louisiana) park that was closed and smelled marijuana. The report alleges that a bag of marijuana and a handgun were in plain sight, and a stolen handgun was found under the passenger seat.
Robinson was allegedly driving the vehicle with Jones as his passenger. The stolen-firearms charge Robinson faced was a felony, while the other charges for Jones and himself were misdemeanors.*"
So, all you lumpy out-of-shape law-abiding citizens, feel shame. You weren’t working out and sweating like these two fine young men.
Maybe. It looks like the Republicans are trying really hard to figure out some way to keep brown men that they think are terrorists from getting their hands on guns without betraying heir principles. I think Toomey might have a workable solution for the watch list (give the list to a FISA court every year and get their approval).
