Churches aren’t taxed why?
“It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
- Barack Obama
Damned good question. I can understand why their income isn’t taxed, since they’re nonprofits. But why they get a free ride on other taxes (property taxes, sales taxes, etc.), that part I don’t understand.
“Blessed are the shooters, for [del]theirs[/del] to their victims is the Kingdom of Heaven. Express lane.”
JFTR, this is a Moonie church.
Spoken like a true cosplay warrior. His actual knowledge and proficiency is one valuable as long as he’s saying things that make my tummy hurt less.
Seems like you fuckers done shot up the wrong kids this time, Kommander Kwikdraw. They’re coming. Better go curl up in your safe space.
A number of reasons: First, they were regarded as a public good or even a social necessity which should get a tax break. Second, there was a sort of “render unto Caesar” mentality that God’s house shouldn’t be taxed. And finally there were lots of really ugly precedents in Europe during the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, including the use of punitive taxes to suppress the “wrong” religion.
As I understand it, non-profit organizations, religious or otherwise, do not pay taxes.
Police search a high school student’s home after a school discussion about how the square root symbol looks like a gun.

well, of course it does
Proof that guns are not to be blamed for school shootings. This is at home.
Yep, that is proof all right. Anyone could just walk on campus with a box of throwing stars, pull the alarm and start taking out students left and right.
Did you see the part where the school district wants to file trespassing charges on her?
Really? She exposed them. Her daughter’s in that school and she has every right to test them.
Yeah, nobody got shot and nobody died and there were no guns. How does that prove guns are not to blame? If Nikolas Cruz walked around the campus for 20 minutes and then left, nobody would have heard of him.
Come on, when I went to urban HS a few decades ago, we had minimal security. School shootings were unheard of. I agree that guns are not the problem, but with fewer of them, the problem would be far smaller. The roots of the problem are deep, and we can disagree about what to do, but to say that guns are not a relevant part of it is disingenuous.
I agree. At this stage we have to have gun control because of too much mental horseshit. Watch YouTube and watch road rage, arguments, violent behavior, bullying, gangs, porch thefts, etc.
By the same token, is it realistic to think that sharply limiting access to guns would be as effective in the USA as it was in Britain or Australia? Looking at different countries, it sometimes seems like the effectiveness of gun control is inversely proportional to how badly it’s needed.
Hell no but nobody’s weeding out the sickos to keep them from accessing guns. Nobody’s doing their jobs.
