Headline is deceiving because the Marine got out of his car to “apologize”, a passenger in the other car pulled out a gun, then the Marine pulled out HIS gun, and they shot and killed each other.
Well, you’re almost right. On the right track at least. If only there had been a teacher in the room to shoot the 18 year old in the face before the baby could get killed. That is the optimum outcome (we are told).
I’ve mentioned this before, but that could have been my kids. My brother, as he was nearing the end of his life, lived with my mom. My kids were over there often. When my brother died, we cleaned out his room and found a loaded revolver under his bed. My kids loved my brother and liked hanging out in his room. Miserable fucker could have got them killed. Of all the things I hate my brother for, that’s right at the top.
Well here is a 2 year old who did arm himself (he found a gun in his grandmother’s purse). Unfortunately she failed to teach him proper gun-handling techniques–so he pointed the gun in the wrong direction–and killed himself:
How the hell can someone say “We’re probably one of the safest families around as far as weapons” immediately after a 2 year old found their gun and shot himself in the face?
I know I’m preaching to the choir here but I find it sad that so many incidents of criminals having guns and then being shot to death by potential victims with guns is somehow considered positive gun news.
ISTM it comes from the Good Guy / Bad Guy filter that distorts their view of the world and the people in it - if the Bad Guy gets shot, that’s Positive Gun News.
But any time they’re asked how to tell the difference between Good and Bad Guys, they all either ignore it or just run away. Ambiguity and complexity literally *scare *them. Old cowboy movies are comforting.
