Is it too much to ask that you not bring up the opinions of idiots when you are not talking to idiots? Or that you stop assuming that “regulation” and “ban” mean the same thing?
And your criticism of which guns are to be “proscribed” rings a little hollow as you simultaneously insist that none of them should be. Is the AWB bill too reasonable for you, you want to goad them into doing something worse?
This is new territory, here, things are bound to get clumsy. Now, if you want to pipe up and say “Hey, you dummies forgot to ban these, therefore, you aren’t smart enough to ban any!” They might just say “Thank you for your input, citizen! Hey, guys, these too! Add 'em in, we’ll call them the **Lumpy **Addition in his honor…”
Speaking for myself, I’d be damned proud of you, hoss!
Sorry, I’m afraid so, when the idiots in question are in positions to influence national policy.
I thought we were talking about an assault weapon ban. Or large-capacity magazine bans. And to paraphrase Justice Marshall, the power to regulate is the power to destroy.
I said nothing about which guns if any ought to be banned. I said that if people are going to justify passing laws [del]banning[/del]“regulating” guns by their functional potential, it’d be nice if they had some idea of what they were talking about.
Your concern for firearms liberty is heart-touching. Frankly I have no interest in entering new territory, so I don’t care how clumsy it might be. Let’s stay out of the swamp to begin with.
I am not an automotive engineer. Couldn’t tell a Chevrolet from a Ford. When I listen to Car Talk, its because I like those guys, no idea what the hell they are talking about.
So I’m not entitled to an opinion about regulating automobiles?
Sure you are. But if you don’t know the difference between a seat belt and an airbag, your opinions of how to make cars safer will not be particularly persuasive.
"…the report, called “America Under The Gun,” developed a list of ten indices of gun violence… (and) demonstrates a significant correlation between the strength of a state’s gun laws and the prevalence of gun violence in the state. "
Sweet! At Liberty University, you can’t watch an “R” rated movie, stay up after midnight, wear “counter-culture” clothes, or hug for longer than 3 seconds, but you can now shoot the person sitting next to you if necessary!
You dems should all give up on gun control and put your efforts where they will do some good. Like climate control, health care, and balancing the budget.
