I knew I’d seen that video somewhere before!
The setting: Josephine County Oregon, down on the California border, where there is that one guy who is not a TFM. The rest of the county, though …
A man sees a bear getting a bit too close to the back porch, so he fetches the trusty gun and sticks some things into it. At some point during this exercise, a loud noise is heard, at which time the man observes that his brother is now non-vertical.
The man calls that number to get help and explains what happened. Emergency services arrive on the scene to find two bodies, each expired from abrupt lead poisoning.
The right to arm bears?
This is a two week old post, but I just saw it (sorry). I’m noticing that he is in a minivan that has all of it’s windows closed and that he is shooting outward both through them and through his windshield. ( If I’m wrong here, please someone tell me. )
If I’m right, doesn’t that basically blow out both of his ear drums from the rapid change in interior air pressure? (My thinking is thus: tensile strength of safety glass vs the heavily re-enforced skin of the eardrum. /s ) So, this guy is deaf as well as stupid?
Just another Lennin-Head ( Bald head, Lennin beard, doing his best to destroy America ).
It was a black bear. Every few years we have a black bear nosing around our home. We take down our bird feeders for a few days and wait for it to move on. At most I’ll go outside and yell/clap my hands to make it scurry away.
If you shoot a black bear then what? You’ve got a huge dead animal in your yard.
I’ll give the dead guy the benefit of the doubt and say he was just going to scare it away.
Depending on the gun used, you might not have a dead animal, you have a very mad large animal.
I would think so. Firing even a handgun in an enclosed space is VERY LOUD. Even with two windows broke. Heck, firing some outside is still loud enough to use hearing protection.
Now you’ve got dinner!
With a gun? why? Yelling, banging pots/pans, etc works just as well. Plus you’re less likely to kill a sibling.
Or, if you’re not a really good shot, a really pissed off 400-pound predator.
Well, obviously Mr 20-20 Hindsight, it was the wrong choice. Mistakes were made. “So I made a decision and it was… wrong. It was a bad call, Ripley. It was a bad call.”

By now you should understand
…
because
Freedom!
(this was in the part where the counties wanted to secede with several NoCA counties to become the state of “Jefferson”)
I live in Sacramento County. There’s a house around the corner with a State of Jefferson flag. Is it really seceding if you want to take the state capital with you?
If you study up on “Jefferson”, its extent varies from a few border counties to the bulk of NoCA/SoOR.
Robbery victim pulls gun, shoots 9-year-old in the head.
Heh, my first thought was omg a 9 year old robber?!
Another case of a good guy with a gun.
Earls has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury
Why not murder? He definitely was intending to kill whoever was in the truck.
I will also note that in Texas the law tolerates people shooting at thieves even after there is no longer any threat to the safety of the victim.
I concur with your take on this. Also, his actions certainly demonstrate “callous disregard for the lives of others”. I don’t see why it’s not charged as murder.
He’s just a good guy with a gun. Her fault for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The wonderful sentence above was brought to you by, of course, a Republican candidate for the office of Governor of Georgia. The worst part about it, oddly enough, is not evident from merely reading it; you need to know, as Paul Harvey would say, “the rest of the story”. The woman in question has been an “educator for two decades”. So what we have here is an educator unfamiliar with punctuation and the United States constitution.
