Stupid Gun news of the day (Part 2)

Every word in this article is an indictment against gun manufacturers, their shills, and the bogus 2nd amendment monsters.

“Gregory Hightower shot and injured one of the two Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents who had been talking to his wife, and they both fired back, hitting him in the stomach. In addition to the infant, the couple’s 3-year-old was in their home at the time. Hightower fled the scene after taking a bullet to the stomach and escaped in his car. Deputies shot and killed him three hours later.”

“.The situation is particularly dire in Texas, which allows permitless carry and where more than 90 percent of women murdered by men “are killed by someone they know as boyfriends, husbands, former relationships, or as stalkers,” according to Texas Gun Sense.”

“An Everytown for Gun Safety study found that domestic abusers who own firearms are five times more likely to kill their partners, and roughly 70 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner each month. Domestic abusers are also extremely dangerous to the public writ large: A full two-thirds of mass shootings in America are linked to domestic violence.”

bolding mine

“But we need guns to protect our family! And also to kill them.”

I call bullshit. Although they may have fired back, hitting him in the abdomen, do they truly mean to imply they know a specific organ within the abdomen which was hit?

There was the person who recently bungled their sentence structure when they seemed to saying that they would save their grandchildren by killing them. I believe “them” was meant to refer to previously mentioned baddies, but it did not scan that way.

I think people may use “stomach” when they really mean abdomen.

I can understand a little kid doing this, but a journalist? Not acceptable.

It’s not a medical article. This will be commonly understood by the average reader to mean “midsection.” Nobody expects a sentence like “He was shot in the duodenum.”

Y’all folk do understand what is it that kayaker is clearly riffing upon(*), right? Or is this some sort of metawhoosh?

(* no judgement made or implied about the cleverness or lack thereof of said riff  )

How qabout belly? Belly works for me.

Dan

I don’t, but it does sound a bit Dwight Schrute’y?

He’s making fun of the (checks what forum we in) idiots who say stuff like “if you don’t know the difference between a clip and a magazine you shouldn’t weigh in on gun control”

Assuming that’s what was intended, it was clearly too subtle for me to notice.

Subtle.

That’s me, Herc, that’s me!

Yeah, I didn’t catch that. Still think it sounds like Dwight Schrute.

Well yes, the idiots going on about clips and magazines sound a lot like Dwight, too.

I am 100% in agreement with you.

Me two.

From the generic Stupid MFers thread: In the middle of a running road rage incident, one driver opens fire, hitting an occupant in the other. Naturally, retaliation in kind ensues.

Allison told investigators that he just wanted to “get out of the whole scenario,” which is why he fired the shot.

Obviously the very first thought being “the way to get out of a threat situation is to use my firearm to make the other person back off in fear for their lives” as opposed to simply disengaging from the vehicular dogfight by being the one who backs off first.

I gots these here dangly bits that I gots to prove as they is dangling there!

Maybe someday they’ll learn it isn’t about who has the bigger dick but who is the bigger dick.
