Well that makes it perfectly okay, now doesn’t it?
I wish I were only kidding. But that really is the mindset of far too many of the far right/far white aka evangelico-political types.

Meanwhile, over at the regular stupidity thread…
Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread - #5966 by bobot
A father in central Indiana has been accused of child neglect after his toddler somehow got ahold of a loaded gun and waved the weapon around at an apartment complex, according to WTHR, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis.
I don’t approve of this.
That said, it’s important to know that sh-t like this happens.
( Thank God for CPS… )
Proud poppa, there.
Dumbass.
Dan
WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!
Apparently, Discourse doesn’t see that line as a sentence and I have to add more.
Glad we are training 5 year old gunfighters. Maybe if the 6 year old that just shot his school teacher had excellent training like this, the teacher would be dead.
Well the newspaper pulled the obituary.
“The obituary described his children as “truly a cherished miracle” despite of the fact that he killed them.”
“”…adding that he “enjoyed making memories with the family.”
Submitted by the funeral home but most likely written by HIS family to whitewash the crime.
Holy fuck. That kid could take out the whole classroom.
Hey, at least his dad taught him the important stuff. Did you notice how he policed the scene afterwards?
I wouldn’t even know how to search for it again, but a few years ago a gun-positive friend of me posted a Youtube link showing a 12 year old girl (age approximate from memory) running a live shooting exercise course where cut-outs pop up and you have to decide whether to shoot or not. She aced it and apparently was top-ranked for speed as well.
IIRC it was shortly after yet another kid found a gun lying around and shot another kid with it. He thought it was a testament to the virtue of teaching proper gun safety - my thoughts were that that kid could take out two or three classrooms and a number of responding officers.
I am not opposed to teaching children about proper gun safety. I am opposed to teaching children techniques used by police, military, and mass shooters.
Also your description reminded of the scene in MIB.
Family of 6-year-old who shot teacher releases statement that the child has an “acute disability,” not specified, and that the gun “was secured.”
Maybe I’m irrationally angry about this incident, but “secured” how? Stuck in the back of the vegetable crisper? “He’ll never look there!”
The boy was under a care plan at the school that included his mother or father attending school with him and accompanying him to class everyday until the week of the shooting, the statement said.
“The week of the shooting was the first week when we were not in class with him,” the statement said. “We will regret our absence on this day for the rest of our lives.”
So many questions.
Wrapped in a towel in the linen closet. The parents showed him, re-wrapped it, and told him he was never to play with it.
I’m pretty sure this was what happened in Michigan when a kid brought a gun to school and accidentally shot a student. The owner (uncle?) was charged with manslaughter. As well he should.
I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding of what “secured” means.
I also think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding of what an “unimaginable tragedy” is. As the parent, and a gunowner, you’re supposed to imagine these things.
I hope this teacher fully recovers and gets their chance to well and truly fuck you over in the courts.
The combination to the gun safe was his birthday.
I’ll be interested in court transcripts on this.
Dad: Our son has an acute disability but he managed to get our totally secured gun.
Court: Explain how that happens.
Dad: Rain Man?
Plus, he has a care plan that required a parent to be with him during the school day, but he had no problem learning how to carry, aim, and shoot a gun.
Many, many questions.
This kid sounds like Nikolas Cruz v. 2.0. The whole story sounds like the school district just wants to cover everything up.
We’re discussing this extensively on a true-crime website. One thing we all agree with is that Enoch, Utah must make Gilead look like paradise.
Could be he learned all about gun handling from watching TV, lots and lots of tutorials in the entertainment shows.
A Brazilian gun nut who carries his gun with him wherever he goes, accompanied his mother for an MRI, and the MRI’s magnet caused the gun to fire, shooting him in the abdomen.
