Stupid Gun news of the day (Part 2)

From the article, they’re concerned about body armor in use by China and Russia, hence the higher caliber.

Developed by those Commies at Remington.

Actually the one being adopted by the Army for the new NGSW rifles is 6.8x51mm SIG

But don’t worry, the marketeers have made sure to make it ‘murrican-frriendly by giving it the alternate branding “.277 Fury”

Hmm… 17 grams vs. 12 grams for the 5.56. A bit heavy, but doable.

Whoa, the headline for once is totally inadequate. But that’s not all folks -
"When agents checked his other bags, they found “an ASP expandable baton, a spring loaded knife, a taser, a .40 caliber Glock 22 handgun, a .308 caliber DPMS Panther Arms rifle, and one 5.56 caliber AR-15 rifle, which meets the definition of a machine gun.” If that had been all they found, that would have been one thing. Perhaps he didn’t know the proper process for traveling with firearms. And it’s not like he tried to sneak all that stuff through security in a carry-on.

But that’s not all the agents found. They also discovered “‘United States Marshal’ credentials, bearing Clouden’s name and photograph, and a ‘United States Marshal’ badge.” And according to the United States Marshals Service, Clouden does not and never has worked there."

And he’s a felon, going to Florida. Sounds like a fun vacation was cut short.

I though Florida was where we were all sending our excess felons.

I’d consider the headline to be on the sensationalist side. All the weapons he had were in checked baggage where they could have been legally if they were properly declared and stored. So all the passengers and plane were never in serious danger at least until after he reclaimed his checked luggage at the destination.

I do agree that he was likely planning something in Florida though which may or may not ever be uncovered.

All in all, definitely stupid gun news.

In which a gun nut Oklahoma state senator decides to do an interview with Jon Stewart to have his ass kicked…
Eight and a half minutes…

I see Jon Stewart is calling the show “The Problem”.
That’s cool. Here is a musical interlude.A song by JJ Cale called The Problem. I wouldn’t post it if it wasn’t cool.
(I’m not gonna claim that it’s about anyone specific, but it was written when W was President.)

From Christmas 1968: Nothing has changed

You missed this classic from WWII.

That is what happens when bullshit meets pure reason. I am in admiration of Stewart that he kept his composure through all of that, and had unassailable reasoning. I would love to hear anybody try to argue these points with him.

What that guy won’t say is, “I take this position to pick up a few extreme pro-gun voters without losing any of my base.”

Hey, LAPD! You missed a couple!

Just for the irony of it.

A lot of these young punks say they didn’t mean to kill anyone–but who believes them?

It’s time to Get Tough on Juvenile Crime!

Presumably they’ll try him as an adult?

Her. Both involved minors are female.

Nah. Just take away her blankie.

It’s Texas. I read that as ‘fry him as and adult’. Oops.

I wonder if she’ll get to hold her dolly in the chair?

“My name is Talking Tina… and you’d better use full voltage and hope I die the first time, Jed…”

I think that’s what started this in the first place.

In Texas, that makes it a justified shooting.

I can’t tell if that’s jaded and cynical, or just resigned.
