Stupid Irresponsible Fucks Who Don't Deserve To Live

Two nights ago, an apartment building two blocks from my house burned down, displacing 270 people. An ancient building, a tightknit community, including a woman over 100 years old. We heard the fire trucks and smelled the smoke, but just now found out what the cause was

Yes, ye ole’ cause. You guessed it folks. Some fucking moron who fell asleep with a burning cigarette in the ashtray!!!

She should have sizzled (thank God no one was killed, but if she would have been that would have been just fine with me.) When will people learn? You take good care of your home, but you really have no control over anything. Some stupid fuck on another floor or in an attached bldg. (common architecture in NYC where I live) could take down the whole block in the blink of an eye. Fire knows know property lines.

People who must smoke should at least be responsible. I smoke sometimes, but I’m responsible about it to the point of paranoia, just for that reason, and never in the bedroom. If I ever get put out of house and home because of some fucking asshat like that, I will personally kill them. Stupid fucking moron bitch.

Good thing no one was hurt.

I wonder if she can be held liable for the damage.

That’s why Bloomberg is trying to get rid of smoking, because then there will be no more fires.

Maybe make a law or something.

LOL, Lib, twice (that I’ve seen today) you’ve found perfect placement for that phrase. Perfect!

It really would solve everything.

At least you’ll have a home then. If not the freedom to which you are accustomed.

I thought this was gonna be another Michael Jackson rant.

I am glad for all the people who survived the fire.

No you don’t want to that Superduperunderoozzzzzzz, that would leave your kid without a mother, left to survive on his/her own.
Being distraught in his situation, the kid may not finish school, and take a minimum wage job to make ends meet, and by your definition that would make them a loser.

Please don’t make your kid a loser, because then you would have look down him, too.

I totally agree that people should be held liable for that kind of thing. Who is going to find a home for all those displaced people? Apparently some will move in with relatives, but that is not a permanent solution. And those were nice apartments for relatively low cost. It will not be easy to find comparable replacements, I’m sure. It’s a crying shame. And, in this great country of ours, I’m sure the help you can expect from the system in that kind of situation is limited. You are expected to have a Plan B for emergencies; if you don’t, you have to get lucky somehow, or else you’re fucked.

Anyone remember when McCauley Culkin’s (“Home Alone”) mohter set her apartment on fire a few years ago? She escaped, but left the door open, and smoke rose up the hall and killed several people. She got her ass sued big time. Right on!

To the person who said Bloomberg should outlaw smoking completely, I know you were being sarcastic, but I had the exact same thought last night, and I was being serious. How many buildings would still be standing, and how many people would still have a place to come home to, let alone be alive, if it weren’t for cigarettes?

To whoever said, if I killed someone for being so grotesquely irresoponsible, I would at least still have a home (the slammer), I had the same thought. I just don’t think it’s funny. It’s scary. I see the back of that building on my way to the train every morning.

We have safety ashtrays in my house. The place to rest your cigarette is in the middle of the round ashtray, so if left unattended, it can only fall INTO the ashtray…not on a table or carpet or cat. It may seem insignificant, but it works.

My husband used to fall asleep in bed with lit cigarettes all the time. I can’t tell you how many burned blankets I have. He’s since seen the error of his ways and now gets up and goes to the living room to smoke at night.

The woman in question says that she’s not totally to blame.

Ummm…if you believe there was a gas leak, then what the hell were you doing smoking and leaving a smoldering cigarette on your child’s bed?! Obviously common sense isn’t common.
