Stupid musings of a drunk guy

Well folks I just got home, and I started thinking. "I sure do love how here in Germany everbody has a radiator instead of heating that uses air. I really hate the way AC in America works where hot air is pumped in. I love putting my feet on the radiator. Anyone else feel that radiators are the superior way to go? Who cares?

The problem with radiators is that they are all or nothing. Unless you go to every room turning them off when you turn the central heating on you have to heat the whole house.

I have a halogen heater, with a remote control. It’s cheap and nasty but it does the job, and acts as a decent lamp too.

I prefer my fireplace. Heat, and lighting that makes everything (and everyone) in the room look sexier.

Interesting, never heard of these halogen heaters before. Is it like these red lights that are in hotel bathrooms for heating? That sounds kind of cool. I just hate hot air blowing on me. I live in a shared apartment, so I mainly keep to my room (there is no living room) so the mulit-room issue is moot for me.

Not any more… there is at least one UK firm making water-based central heating systems which can be activated or deactivated individually from a central control panel.

Besides, you have to go into each room in an air-heated house and close off the vents- what’s the difference?

Ahh. We poor non-Americans are not aware of the workings of the new world’s household technology.

Radiators are the way to go because blown hot air is uncomfortable.

I’ve got your drunk musings, ass. I’m drunk. So drunk, I’ve hit backspace more times than the regular keys. That’s all. Good night.

I love hot water/steam heating. Vastly superior to forced air (IMO). Radiators come in so many cool styles now (like braided piping-- cool!!) and they always SEEM so much cozier and well… warmer than forced air.

Maybe best of all though-- all your hot water, whether for dishes, shower, etc., or for the radiator heating, comes from the same furnace! Why have a furnace AND a hot water heater when you only need one!

I miss the Netherlands… :frowning:
