Stupid, not important computer peeve

If this goes to the big thread graveyard of threads where the hamsters mate - fine. It’s not cosmic in any way. It just bugs me.

Every time I start my computer, the folder c:\program opens. I have no clue as to why. I’ve tried checking prefs. It’s not in autostart.

As I said - no biggie. Just a feeling that it shouldn’t be that way.

Compaq P4 with XP pro.

Try running msconfig and see if you can locate some reference to it there. If so, you should be able to disable it from there or turn off whatever is calling it.

similar problem… everytime i start my cpu (hp winxp)
this pops up…

error loading C:\program files\common name oolbar\cnbabe.dll
the specified module could not be found.

i have no clue.

I would suggest the same solution. In the case of a .dll file, you may need to turn things off one at a time until you find which one is calling the .dll, though. They aren’t usually called directly.

The cnbabe.dll thing is spyware from Imesh.com. Get Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com.
