We have one community area here where people had the audacity to post “No Throughfare, Residents Only” signs on a county road. I had a friend who lived in this area and he told me that it was a similar stupid old man clique using their pompous authority as a “homeowners’ association”.
I can’t wait for one of these jerks to call the station and have me respond because they have the tag number of a (gasp) non-resident who dared use their precious community as a short cut home.
Little do they know that I use the same road in my personal vehicle just out of spite (it adds about a half-mile more to my travels, but its worth it. And I play my stereo just a wee bit too loud. I save a real good Van Halen or AC/DC CD just for this collection of jerk-offs.
To borrow a phrase from Wally…putzes!
(is that a proper plural of “putz”? Putzi?..)
…send lawyers, guns, and money…

Depending on the state laws you live in. You can take that gated community to court and maybe have them removed. The roads in that community were likely built with public funds, making them public roads, rightfully accesible to all people. So these rich yuppies are not just being assholes, they may be breaking the law.
There was a neighborhood just outside of Houston, near Sugarland, that was gated in the late 1970’s to early 80’s. After much protesting from people who lived on the opposite side of the gated community than the public school, it was removed. If they are public streets, then they have NO RIGHT to be gated.
There was a big article in the Newark Star-Ledger yesterday. Apparently, the cops want to have the codes/keys to the gates on the communities so they can respond to emergencies without having to wait to be buzzed in. The people in the communities do not want to allow the cops free access.
Whadda they think the cops are gonna do? Play AC/DC at top volume?
But really folks, Do they think that the gate protects them from having emergencies, medical or otherwise?
The gated community thing always bugged me, but after seeing that article, well, they bug me even more.
