Stupid people in the SIMS community

I frequent a popular board in The Sims gaming community. Basically I like hearing what updates and new objects people have made, get help on game problems, etc.

This board hosts both a Sims 1 section and one on Sims 2. (I only have the first game). Despite very simple labels and tons of stickies and rules, I have never seen so many selfish, clueless morons in my entire life.

  1. This board is NOT a fucking chat room. Don’t post a thread at 4:15 and then at 4:17 post again saying, Y WONT U HELP ME!!! U SUK!!! You won’t get instant responses. (I’m not exaggerating, either. YOu should see the time stamps).

  2. When asking for a request, please do so politely and give detail of what you want. It says in the stickies to attach pictures, especially for skins. And when people fulfill your requests, thank them. Offer some constructive criticism, but don’t send out a request saying, “I WANT A SKIN OF LATEST_TEEN_SENSATION AND IT HAS TO BE FREE AND NOT SUCK!!!” Don’t keep bumping your thread after someone has tried to edit your request about five times and you’re still not happy. Then when people tell you they’d rather not work for someone so demanding and ungrateful, don’t say, “Can someone else help!!!”

  3. Read the goddamn forum descriptions! See, this says Sims 1 and then Objects, Help, General, Skins, etc. Ditto Skins 2.

  4. The stickies are there for a REASON. If I had a nickle for every “HOW DO I MAKE SKINS/WHERE IS BODYSHOP/I WANT TO MAKE OBJECTS!!!” thread there is, I’d make Bill Gates look like a fucking pauper.

  5. Sims 2 is still new and there are limits as to what can be done. Skins can only be made from exisiting meshes-they can’t make big fancy wings and different hair. Objects are also limited to what’s already in the game-only recolors and some basic mods are possible.

  6. Yes, I’m SURE your computer will be able to run Sims 2 with only 128mb of ram and a graphics card that has been obsolete since the Harding administration.

  7. Stop asking people to send you items from pay sites. If you want the items, suck it up and pay like everyone else does. Stop asking people for serial numbers, how to fix illegal cracked copies of the game, and how to get adult content. (This particular community doesn’t allow the discussion).

  8. Don’t post items made by others and claim them as your own!!! It’s not like most of us aren’t familiar with most creators’ work.

I’m sure there’s more, but right now, my brain is fried from reading all of this shit. Why do I still go there? For the most part, it’s a great place-but the amount of idiots make me want to tear my hair out.

I think the behaviour described can largely be attributed to the younger (sometimes very young) portion of The Sims fan base.

If only!

I used to think this. Some of these posts are by those who claim to be SAHM, and not especially young ones.

The forum menus in some of those boards are confusing. I accidentally posted an inquiry to the wrong board, but the menus I tried to follow to go to the appropriate forum led me there.

BTW the official sims2 site has made homecrafter available!

I do pay for a subscription to one of these places and get objects. It is a good site. I do wish I understood why many of the objects don’t seem to show up consistently.

Occasional posts to the wrong forum is one thing. Some of these idiots cross post in every single forum.

And yes, a lot of them seem to be older than you’d think. I just HATE the whole young people chatspeak. And Jesus, are they ever RUDE.

U SUK.

Sorry. couldn’t resist. I totally agree. that’s why i don’t chat or visit any other message board than this one. I don’t online game for the same reason. Diablo was absolutely ruined by that crap.

Ok, so that looks a little wierd now that I re-read it. ME: “i hate it when you’re playing a perfectly good game with tiny little devils running around that you are trying to kill and some really juvenile kid reminds you of how childish you really are.” Growing up sux.

I know how you feel. I had to leave that board (I’m assuming TSR) for the reasons you describe. Too many juvenile idiots. I’m sure there were plenty of mature posters, but the loud, annoying people exceeded my threshold of tolerance real early.

I’ve just re-started playing Sims2 again in the last week. I do so like that game.

Apparently the correct response to this thread should be

“y0u !5 teh suxX0rz”.

I have no idea what this means.

I should qualify my post by pointing out that I’m referring to the attitude and not the age when I say ‘juvenile’ or ‘mature’, by the way.

Juvenile people r teh suck.

I’m keeping mum on the board’s name. (And besides, it ain’t limited to TSR)

I don’t even have Sims 2-just Sims 1 up to Vacation. (Which I got with Hot Date for Xmas-LOVE it!). But honest to god, even someone who’s never played Sims 2 can tell these people that their requests can’t happen, and that no, your computer won’t be able to handle it.

I’m waiting for the expansion pack and have been mainly trying construction ideas until then.

We’v begun an organized breeding campaign. KellyM is indulging Christy Cherry’s desire to have ten children. We have been selecting mates for the most interesting Sims and trying to get variety to counter all those Cherry genes.

So far most of the ones in our campaign are at least dating and some have had babies. I can’t wait to see Athena’s children.

Was anyone else surprised by the carpool of captain hero?

All I can contribute to this is the hilarity of reading Lowtax’s description of playing Sims 2, making some 8 foot tall man with a freakish horn protruding out of his forehead not to mention a terrifying overbite, selecting a victim ah I mean a mate, and spawning a freak baby (horn and all! )

Also the house that required guests to run through a freaking labyrinth just to get to the shitter. Great stuff :stuck_out_tongue:
