Stupid Question About Tomato-Based Sauces.

enjitomatadas

I boil my garden tomatoes for hours to make tomato sauce. Once, I grew a hybrid tomato called Celebrity. They were the most prolific tomato plants I ever grew. We had tomatoes for salad AND pots and pots of sauce. The only problem was was that the sauce came out pink and the Romas were nowhere near as productive, so there wasn’t enough to color the sauce.

And that has nothing to do with enchiladas or canned sauces. Just wanted to share.

Actually, it apparently is entomatada. After silenus mentioned it, it rang a bell so I looked it up.

You say Tomate… I say Jitomate…

Let’s call the whole thing off!

This thread has got me thinking…

Sometime in the last twenty years or so, I saw a video on MTV where an old Italian woman cooks spaghetti sauce, and her son the cop lets a woman he’s chasing get away because he’s distracted after a glob of it falls on his uniform while eating lunch.

“Chop the onions and garlic … saute in olive oil … peel and chop the tomatoes…”

Does anyone know which video this was? I haven’t been able to find it yet on YouTube.
