Stupid Santorumisms

I didn’t see it mentioned here, and I’m surprised:

Access to birth control leads to children being born out of wedlock

facepalm

In 1992 nobody knew about cell phones and then God gave us the right to them. Or something.

I dunno, I give up.

Golly molly, Biggirl. There’s an even bigger, er, nugget in that article you linked to:

Ooookay. So, the Roman Republic, the Greek democracies, all the myriad political structures evolving worldwide from Hellenistic times to the Enlightenment—all that can be summed up as “life did not change”.

Imagine that.

For someone who has been spouting off (wrongly) about the French Revolution, he seems to have forgotten that as well.

Fair’s fair - we had it a decade or so after your independance. It’s only natural to assume the latter was the sole cause of the former. After all, what other reason could there have been ? Life just didn’t change back then, or so I’m told.

Buncha copycats is all you are.

Oh great, another fanboy who thinks Steve Jobs is God. :stuck_out_tongue:

Santorum would be the winner if he had as much money as Mitt Romney. But he doesn’t! His family is spending down its savings! He won’t be able to put his kids through college! They’ll be destitute soon! But dammit, a FUTILE GRAB FOR POLITICAL POWER IS WORTH IT!

What a snob!

Forget the anti-abortion, anti-contraception, anti-separation of church and state stances. Forget all the conservative talking points that make liberals cringe.

The man is incompetent. His campaign can’t even get the paperwork right.

Romney’s campaign has started to hammer on this point:

Incapable of taking on Obama as an opponent? His politics offend me but if he were as liberal as your average Democrat I’d still consider him unfit for office. How the hell is he supposed to run a country if he can’t run a campaign?

He didn’t think he was going to, like Newt. Nobody, but nobody, had a clue as to how this spinning clusterfuck would play out, we are all gob-smacked. Say what you will about democracy, it ain’t dull!

(In a lonely cabin south of Lake Woebegon, Tim Pawlenty quietly weeps…)

He wants to be President of Camazotz!

Today he says the reason he can’t give more than 1.76 percent of his income to charity is because he has a special needs daughter and even with an income in the high six/low seven figures private insurance is insufficient for her needs.

Lots and lots of pittable things here but I’ll stick to just this:

He’s had years where he made over $1 million and, by his own words, he and his wife with a 1% income can’t afford healthcare without belt tightening, but somebody who makes a tenth of their income- still not a bad income- is somehow supposed to have no problem paying for this, or at least not enough to warrant anything like a national health insurance.

Meanwhile, a married couple who are both in school, earn $15,000 plus student loans between them, want children someday and will have comfortable incomes some day but currently could not afford even a healthy child on their income (and every ten dollars makes a difference in their lifestyle) should not receive any kind of subsidized contraception. Preferably they shouldn’t use contraception at all, but if she did get pregnant and it was a special needs child… I guess there are special workhouses for them?

Yep. Special needs workhouses, picking special needs oakum.

IT sometimes calls ITself the Happiest Santorum.

From an interview with George Stephanopoulos…here’s his explanation for why kids shouldn’t go to college

You talk to most kids who go to college who are conservatives, and you are singled out, you are ridiculed, you are — I can tell you personally," Santorum said. “I went through a process where I was docked for my conservative views. This is sort of a regular routine. You know the statistic … that 62 percent of kids who enter college with some sort of faith commitment leave without it. This is not a neutral setting.”

HMMMM…don’t want them to know about evolution, huh

Stupid Santorumisms are invading my dreams!

Last night I dreamed that I was trying to get my kids up for school. They calmly explained that there was no school because of the anachronistic snow. No matter how hard I tried to get them to go to school, they wouldn’t. They kept elaborating on the snow and how it wasn’t there yesterday and now it is, so there was no school. Because of the anachronistic snow. It was a pretty frustrating dream.

At least the dream didn’t involve any actual santorum.

 “Docked”? I originally assumed that that was just a typesetter’s error for “mocked”, but apparently Santorum did indeed claim that his college grades were “docked” by professors because he was a conservative.

He hasn’t provided any evidence to substantiate that claim, but I’m sure it will play well with his base. Damn librul professor types.

Perhaps that accounts for why conservatives are perceived asless intelligent than liberals; their grades are lower because lamestream education elites don’t like them.

Some conservatives may feel that they have been docked grades for their opinions or their political affiliation, when in fact they were docked grades because they did not understand the material, or they delivered answers that were factually incorrect.

For example, if you are taking a class in Geology, and insist the earth is only 6,000 years old, you will be docked marks because you are wrong, not because you are a conservative.

If you are taking a class in Biology, and you answer a question with “because God did it”, you will be marked incorrect because you are wrong, not because you are a conservative.

If you are taking a class in sociology, and you answer a question with “The Lamestream Liberal controlled media is brainwashing the public with their socialist lies”… You will be marked incorrect because you are wrong.

If you are taking a class in Comparative Religion, and you produce an essay that is a diatribe about how Christianity is the only true religion, but do not produce any citations or quotes or evidence of thoughtful analysis… you will receive a poor grade not because you are a conservative or a Christian, but because you are a poor scholar.

Etc.

But many Christian conservatives do have quite the martyr complex, so they will continue to think that they are specifically being picked on by the mean liberals.
