I am increasingly convinced this twerp is absolutely delusional: his comments about Obama’s “theology”, his never ending obsession with gays, birth control, abortion, his taking a dead fetus home and making his kids hold it, his near loathing of women having any sort of rights over their own body (how he missed being a quiver full dad I’ve no idea), and unlike New Gingrich (who’s as full of shit as the Mexico City sewage system) or Romney (who just wants to be your best friend gosh-darn-it, now let me put you behind the wheel of that Buick!), I honestly think Santorum believes every single word that comes out of his mouth. I think he literally believes he’s on a mission from God. The man has Special Guest Villain from DEXTER or SUPERNATURAL written all over him.
But I’m curious if others share this theory or if it’s just my near blinding hatred of him. Does anybody else think the man is beyond zealous and to the point of crazy?
I had an epiphany while watching video of him spouting (excuse me) one of his theories about homosexuality–can’t recall exactly which one, sorry–that he wasn’t only stupid or only a fanatic but certifiably, indisputedly insane, even more so than Michele Bachmann. The problem with his brand of crazy is that it attracts people of a similar ilk and they start reproducing like rabbits.
I don’t think he’s clinically mentally ill, nor do I think he’s delusional. I just think he has views that are really out there because he’s sheltered, bless his heart.
I have more respect for the mentally ill to say he’s crazy, to be honest. Several people near and dear to me have mental illness, up to and including schizophrenia, and they would never act like as much of an ass as he does. Never.
I wish he was crazy. I wish I could say that everyone with that much ignorance and hate in them had a disease, and that they could be helped. But, I don’t believe it. I think he’s about the closest thing to evil as this atheist can conceive of, but crazy? No. He gets no excuses. The man is just awful.
Fanatic and definitely out there, but I would say Bachmann is worse. I do not think that he is insane. But I also don’t think mainstream Catholics are as fanatic as he is.
The only thing I can at all respect is bringing the body of his stillborn son home. Yeah, it’s out there and I don’t think I’d have done something like that under those awful circumstances. The idea was that bringing home the body would make the child real to the other kids, and might help the family with grieving. I have friends who lost infants and I would not interfere with anything they wanted at that time. Or any time since.
But the rest of his political POV (I won’t dignify it with the word “philosophy”) is fanatic bullshit. And utterly mis-prioritized - you’re telling unemployed factory workers that opposing SSM is more important than their jobs???
Exactly. I’m sick of people going after the family for this.
As for him being insane? Nope. I think he’s a fanatic, and the idea of him as president scares the hell out of me. But he doesn’t strike me as crazy. Stupid, maybe. Ignorant, definitely. But sly. He’s a zealot, and while he might be overdoing some of the rhetoric, he’s never been one to tone it down just to gain votes. If he WERE just saying it to please his base, I think he’d be a wee bit more diplomatic.
No, he knows what he’s saying, he believes it, and he’s sane. Scary, but sane.
