Subaru: No More 6 cyl?

Every site I’ve visited lists only the 2.5 litre 4-cyl, no option for the 6-cyl. Have they discontinued it in the U.S.?

Not according to cars.com.

However the flat six is only available in the Outback, which is now a distinct model from the Legacy.

YellowTail, the forum called “Cafe Society” is intended for questions about arts and entertainment. While cars can indeed be a form of entertainment, I think you’ll get better responses from General Questions forum. Hence, I’m moving it. It’s possible, of course, that Stan has provided the answer and that nothing more is needed.

At Subaru.com you can find what they make. The 3.0l is their 6 cyclinder.

I think what they tend to have is

2.5l normally aspirated (and some legacys, Forester) w/ like 165 hp
2.0l turbo in the WRX
2.5l NA (outback and legacys) with 250 hp()
2.5l turbo in the STi (and some legacys)
3.0l in SOME Outbacks.
(
) I think this one exists. I’m not sure why or how they build 2 normally aspirated cars with 2.5s with completely different power specs.

What they really need to do is bring back the 3 bangers. Long Live Justy!!

Huh? You think they have two separate hi-po flat 4 2.5 liter engines that make 250hp? One turbo, one NA? Plus the 250hp flat six? That’d be 3 engines with the same output…

Answer to the OP: A 250hp flat 6 is available, as an option in the Outback only. Legacy buyers have to get by with the optional 250hp turbo flat 4. Case Closed.

I believe I heard rumors of Subaru working on a twin turbo H-6 supercar.

… if you drive on the other side of the road to the Japanese. Otherwise 6C sedan is right there to play with.

While we’re at it, any word on a Subaru hybrid-engine? They seem to be the only big player with nothing in the works.
