When anyone says ‘green onions’ I assume they mean scallions. It doesn’t matter that much if they mean scallions or spring onions, or even shallots or chives.
Some people are very sensitive to raw onion because of something calledfructans, but the green stem of portion of scallions don’t have this while still bringing some of oniony flavor to food.
