I was desperate for work at one point in my late teens, and curious about a listing in the online version of a local newspaper that offered high weekly pay rates, just call and ask for [whoever]. I called and they refused to tell me what the job even was. They seriously said if I had to ask, I wasn’t the right fit. I still don’t know what it was. I had assumed it would be some kind of sales gig, but after that call I can’t decide if it was something shady or they were just grossly incompetent. Either way I probably dodged a bullet.
In my first or so year after college with an economics degree, I went to this employment agency which was was offering jobs in financial publishing. It turned out to be some boiler room where phone salespeople tried to arm twist people into signing up for hot stock tips newsletters.
After that agency wasted my time, I went to a nearby bar and, after a couple stiff drinks, called the agency and let them have it for completely wasting my time. After I was done chewing them out, I got applause from the few people that were in the bar as well as a free shot from the bartender! Felt so good. Job hunting sucks, but wasting my time by misrepresentation just caused me to snap.
