Prefaced, of course, by the fact that I’ll soon be off to see a doctor (I have insurance, but don’t have a primary physician at the moment), and that I take no one’s advice here as legally binding, blah blah blah…
That said, here’s what’s going on:
-
I live in a Lyme-tick infested area. I’ve plucked many a tick off of me, but have never seen the typical “bullseye” rash of Lyme disease
-
I also injured my left shoulder several times (A-C joint separation almost 10 years ago, slight hyperextension from rock climbing about 9 months ago). As of last week, though, it has been A-OK. Haven’t gone climbing yet, but it hasn’t bothered me.
-
Didn’t do anything stressful to my arm this weekend. No exceptional heavy lifting, etc.
-
Sunday AM (yesterday), I woke up with severe shoulder pain, as if I had again hyperextended it. But I hadn’t slept on it strangely, etc. The range of motion is suddenly pretty lousy, it hurts through various extension movements, etc.
What’s up with that? Could it be Lyme disease? Pretty weird and sudden onset for injury, rather than some inflammation attack. I have not had other Lyme symptoms, though–no Bell’s Palsy, no heart palpitations, no bullseye rash. I guess I could have had the flulike symptoms at some point in the past several months … but I may just have been sick. Nothing too specific.
