sugar makes you smart?

I heard that Tomas Edison always ate pies and pastries while inventing and when he started eating high protien things he coulden’t invent any more. The same thing happens with my uncle too. So was just wondering if anyone knows if sugar makes the brain function?

The brain needs glucose like other parts of the body, and its demand for glucose is high. In fact, PET scans are based upon the amount of glucose a portion of the brain is using, to determine what part is most active. If you deny yourself of glucose, bad things will happen. Of course you can have too much of a good thing.
