Suggest a Keystroke recorder?

My buddy is looking for a descent keystroke recorded. He needs to keep an eye on a person using his computer. But he isn’t always there so he’d like it sent to his e-mail. I don’t know if he should use a plain keystroke recorder or something more secure like a root kit. I know there are alot out there. He primarily wants to keep an eye on Myspace, e-mails, and MSN. Do you know of any good ones?

I’m closing this for right now, Surbey, because I’m unsure how the SDMB wants to deal with questions like this. While there are, admittedly, legitimate uses of keyloggers, there are also numerous illegal uses. I’ll shoot this to the rest of the mods to discuss and I’ll get back with you.

Also, this belongs in GQ, but I’ll move it after we come to a decision.

I should also mention if the usage being monitored is that of a minor there are programs available that do this kind of surveillance work – legally.

Here’s a whole page of companies that sell “parental control software.”

If your friend plans to use a program to spy on adults – say, a spouse or roommate or whatever – the legal situation gets much murkier, but we are not going to speculate in this thread except to say that you should be guided by the laws of whatever jurisdiction you are in.
