I am in LA for a few days and we would love to watch the sunset of the ocean tomorrow night at dinner.
What are some good restuarants in the LA area where we can do this?
THANKS!

not exactly LA but worth the drive IMHO, Dukes, Huntington Beach by the pier…tomorrow should be a fantastic sunset with more then few photographers on scene with their tripods and cameras
You’d probably be better to go to one of the beach cities. Look on TripAdvisor. I get lots of good suggestions from them. But, in LA, Hollywood, to be exact, go to Botega Louie, if you can. They have wonderful food and the best, nicest people working there…oh, and they have a fabulous confectionery!
Have Fun!!
The Lobster in Santa Monica is pretty good, and has a very nice view. Kind of touristy, but most of these kinds of places will be. One nice thing about Santa Monica in general is that they have a bunch of city parking structures which are relatively reasonably priced, and have always had available spots when I’ve tried.
I don’t know what your price point is but my favorite beach views in the LA area were always around Malibu. There are a ton of places, but if you want to go someplace FANCY check out Geoffery’s.
If you want to go someplace less fancy, there are dozens of other perfectly good restaurants with views in the area.
You could try the Santa Monica Pier. Lots of places to eat on the pier itself or on the 3rd Street Promenade.
If I ever have some time to kill in L.A., I’d like the try the restaurant that’s across the parking lot from where Jim’s trailer was on The Rockford Files. I don’t know if the food is any good, but I’d track it down just for the nostalgia.
nobu malibu. great food, great view. If you want to stay in santa monica note that there’s no view from restaurants on 3rd street promenade that i know of. from the mall rooftop food court, however, you can catch the sunset. shutters on the beach has a pretty good restaurant. huntley hotel has a good view from their bar (i don’t remember if they have a restaurant) for drinks before dinner. i think the sun sets pretty early this time of year.
Botega Louie is downtown, not in Hollywood, and though it’s a good resaurant, it’s probably not the first place to go if you want to look at the scenery (downtown LA is not the nicest place to look at in the world)
Gladstone’s in Malibu. I’d couple it with a drive along PCH then head to Gladstone’s before sunset.
