Suggest Some Beautifully Designed Websites Please

Thanks for noticing how terrible www.bacononabun.com is, I’ve worked really hard to make it so. It’s a bit puzzling it was even found, let alone brought up in a conversation on a message board. I’m a bit surprised you could think it was written by a robot. It hadn’t occurred to me to write a program to make the site even worse, but you have inspired me to try.

Thanks,

Bacononabun

Argh!! I am not even epileptic, but I swear looking at that site puts me on the verge of seizures.

AAAAAHHHHH!!! MY EYES!!!

I did like the greeting for us, though. Very thoughtful.

You can learn a lot by studying good web sites.
And you can learn a lot by doing the opposite: www.websitesthatsuck.com

(my apologies if you already know that link. But it is pretty educational.)

There is a book called **Don’t Make Me Think **that is a quick, easy-to-understand primer on website design from a business standpoint. So if you are looking for streamlined, efficient functionality, this is a great resource. By this time, many/most websites embrace the common-sense thinking laid out in the book, but the author spends time discussing the rationale behind the common-sense…

Actually, rereading the OP - DMark, since you are teaching, I assume you know of this book - maybe you have it as part of the curriculum?

thats so awesome that the Bacononabun robot did that for us. Now we are cool.

Quite aside from the fact that I’m a Harry Potter uber-geek, I love JK Rowling’s official site: http://www.jkrowling.com/

One of my personal favorites, 2bangkok.com, has won awards, but I think more for content.

How about Kaliber10000 - the designer’s lunchbox? The site itself may be nothing special, but they often have links to really nice ones.
