Suggestion for party snacks

One of the easiest and most surprisingly yummy party items I’ve ever encountered:[ul]
[li]1 block cream cheese, unwrapped and plopped on a big plate or platter[/li][li]1 jar chile-pepper/fruit jam (e.g., jalapeño-blackberry), to be found in gourmet section of grocery, poured over the cream-cheese block[/li][li]Wheat Thins® arranged around the edge, for guests to dig in with[/li][/ul]
Who’da thunk it? Damn, it’s good.

Might even be yummy with not-spicy jam.

Note that this spicy-type jam is regular sweet jam with only the chiles added; no garlic or onions or other salsa ingredients.

Aren’t you going to invite all us BatDopers? :frowning:

Anyway, if you get Brown Sugar’s pita bread, get some Humous too. Best get it at Phoenicia Bakery (either on South Lamar and Manchaca or Burnet and 47th). They also have Baklava to die for if you want something sweet.

Fruit tray with dip, it’s easy to make ahead, light and summery and seasonal, and divine for making you feel virtuous (fruit) while being partyrifically bad for you (dip).

Wedge Granny Smith apples, rinse in either salt water or lemon water to keep them from browning.
Rinse and pluck seedless grapes.
Rinse and slice starfruit.
Rinse and hull strawberries.
Or whatevers in season/on sale/etc.

Dip is simply 2 bricks of softened cr.cheese whipped together with 1 large jar of marshmallow cream/fluff, throw in a sploosh of vanilla and a few drops of food coloring if you feel festive.

Set the platter or tray on ice and you’re good to go.
