Suggestions for a Beachy October Weekend Getaway

I’m trying to plan a getaway for my girlfriend’s birthday this year. We were planning to head to to Oaxaca, but I recently got a new job and getting a week off is not really possible (and there’s no way I’m not spending at least a week down there). So, I decided to surprise her and book something a little closer (and cheaper) for a weekend at the end of October.

I’ve been looking into all inclusive stays at places in the Bahamas, maybe Costa Rica and that general area. Anyone have any suggestions? Are all-inclusive places worth it? They’re really not my thing, but I figure it’s better than nothing. Ideally, I’d want to spend around a grand for the two of us, but I’d be willing to spend a bit more. I’d be coming from New York and would really like something kinda in the same time zone (1 or 2 hours at tops).

You guys gave me such great advice when I was looking to plan a trip for Vermont, so I figured I’d give it another shot. Thanks for any advice you can give.

How about Vieques (Puerto Rico) - Lots of nice sparsely populated beaches and a bioluminescent bay.
Only one “resort” type place I think though.

End of October means the humidity in Bermuda would be dissipating. It’s a hop and skip from New York.
