Sunday Morning

2 fried eggs, grilled bacon (crispy) sausage, mushrooms, black pudding, grilled tomatoes, toast.

Followed by 2 cups of strong black coffee and a read of the paper.

That’s what I call a fucking good start to the day

Hmm. Pretty much what I’m preparing for lunch (it was originally going to be breakfast). And I’ll even sit outside to eat it. Just a shame I’d have to walk all the way to the shop (150yds) to get a newspaper.

Here’s my preferred Sunday morning regimen:

Fried egg on toast, crispy bacon, sausage, grilled tomato, baked beans and mushrooms, all soaked in vinegar. Several cups of strong tea to drink.

The Sunday Times to read - Business, News, News Review, Magazine, Culture and Home are my favourite sections.

Nasty hangover thanks to yesterday’s rugby; too hungover to lie in. Got up, two cups of black coffee and a lot of water. Then chopped an organic onion (very expensive Tesco’s variety, but the difference in smell and consistency is astonishing: well worth the price) and a clove of garlic, and set about making my Famous Lasagne. No breakfast yet though I do have some sausages I might set about cooking.

Good morning, UK Dopers.

It’s almost 5 am here, due to the new Daylight Savings Time. I lost a whole hour.

Right now I’m having…a Pabst Blue Ribbon and some peppermint tea. When I wake up, I shall probably go have pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). When I mentioned pho at the hotel bar in London, I got quite the “excuse me?” because it’s pronounced “fuh” and it sounds quite a bit like something else…

But I like a good Irish/English breakfast, and it’s a pity I can’t get someone else to cook it for me.

Hello from the future. Almost 7pm Sunday here. My Sunday is winding down as yours is the beginning.

There are a number of British and Irish pubs in Bangkok that do a great traditional fry-up on Sunday mornings. The Dubliner in Washington Square is the best of the bunch.

beer and bacon for breakfast - you guys know how to make an oil rig worker in the Middle East pine for civilisation. :frowning:

Get to Dubai, quick! I managed to buy both beer and bacon from the infidels-only section of the supermarket when I was there in 1998.

Chowder, you’re making me miss England; I had black pudding and tomatoes with breakfast every day in Blackburn, with some good strong tea.

This morning, after some excellent sex, I’m making a frittata for my girl and myself; one of the best reasons to have a cast iron skillet. Eggs, sour cream, bacon, cheese, diced tomatoes, diced onions.

Then off to SCA fighter practice, then working on a screenplay about giant mutant penguins. I love the weekend.

Me? Leftovers from dinner last night: meatloaf, potatoes mashed with garlic, sour cream and cream cheese; put the potatoes in a bowl, top with slice of meatloaf; pour leftover gravy over the whole thing, nuke until hot. Enjoyed with a large mug of coffee with Splenda and Half&Half, and a tall glass of ice water.

I’ll go along with most of this but soaked in vinegar? surely you jest

jjimm I’ve had the organic mushroom from Tesco but to be honest with you they tasted no different from the rest altho’ they were a damn sight more expensive

Heh. Even just by mouseover on the thread title I somehow KNEW that this was a thread for UK dopers.

Mine was so good that I couldn’t even stay fully awake for the whole of Chelsea v Spurs.

(Bear & treacle bacon, from a very good local butcher. Rather nice. Suck on that one, middle easterners :stuck_out_tongue: )

I never used to think of the terms “British” and “fine cuisine” together, but Man! I do enjoy the occasional British or Irish fry-up on a Sunday morning. Mmmmmm.

You’d be very surprised at the fine cuisine we have these days old chap.

Every city/town/hamlet/village etc has at least 2 decent Indian/Chinese/Thai restaurants

Oh! you mean real British…sorry…erm…I’ll let you know :stuck_out_tongue:

I like that kind of breakfast, but I gave up meat for Lent. :frowning:

But come Easter don’t get between my teeth and the ham at dinner!

Bear?

Sunday morning? Due to the alcoholic excesses of the night before, my morning didn’t start until nearly afternoon. Breakfast happened later when I felt able to contemplate cooking…macaroni cheese and lots of tea. Excellent stuff, and just what my poorly head required.

Macaroni cheese for breakfast? ew, I mean ew

Call yourself English? for shame woman, for shame

Cure some ignorance over here: What’s black pudding?
