Does anyone here raise sunflowers? I planted mine late this year and they are just blooming right now. After blooming flowers seem to keep getting bigger and bigger although nowhere near besides they’re supposed to be. Is it normal for sunflowers blossoms to grow for an extended period of time after blossoming?
Maybe they’re swelling as the seeds develop?
A guy down the street has a forest of them. They are actually kinda creepy in those numbers. It’s like they follow you when you look at them.
This does appear to be the case I always thought the seeds were fully developed before the flower opened
We planted them many years ago and now have them everywhere due to the squirrels and gold finches spreading the seeds. They do grow for a long time. And yes, the flowers that develop seeds will get larger. We have so many bees because of these and all the other flowering things like lavender, parsley, thyme, etc.
