My co worker just told me about a child whose skin actually turned orange from drinking 2 liters of Sunny Delight a day. Anyone heard anything about this? I’m curious because it would seem this would be highly publicized, and lead to much in the way of legal battles.
I heard about a guy who dropped a whole bunch of acid at once to prevent it from being confiscated by the police, and he ended up his life convinced he was a glass of orange juice and people would drink him.

Dude! That was my friend’s brother’s friend!
Yep , I heard about this about a month ago . It didn’t happen in NY though , it happened here in Dublin , Ireland . So I think we can be sure that this is a new urban myth .
It’s actually not uncommon for little kids to develop orange skin from ingesting too much squash, sweet potatoes, or carrots–these are some of the more popular baby foods. I doubt a lawsuit would get very far, though, since the condition is harmless and disappears when you cut back on the carotene.
Two liters a day of Sunny Delite would do worse things to a kid than turn him orange, though.
I love that bullshit story. Our drug-ed teacher swore it was true and that it happened nearby.
See Snopes’ “The Citric Acid Trip”.
Oh, I heard that ridiculus LSD story a bunch of times and in different forms. Also, the old “if you dose 7 times you are legally insane” or the old “someone starred into the sun and went blind”.
There’s a lot of ignorance out there. That’s why we have the SDMB. But it is taking so darn long.
