Last night, Francesca took a moment and went out of her way to be nice to me. Nothing elaborate or earth-shattering (I mean, she didn’t like save my LIFE or anything), but just NICE. Thoughtful. Considerate. Just a little gesture to make a newbie feel welcomed.
Like many people, I am quick to complain. Bad service, and I’m up at the service desk making noise in the manager’s ear. I always mention when something has angered or upset me (whether anyone wants to hear it or not). I NOTICE when people do nice things, but I often forget to mention it.
So, I’m mentioning it. I’m going to make a better effort to thank the nice people, because positive reinforcement is a good thing. Maybe if people get thanked for being nice more often, they’ll be inclined to BE nice more often.
Er, I do not wish to imply that everyone else hasn’t been welcoming or kind. For indeed that is NOT the case. Nor am I trolling for responses – when I do that, I do it so it’s obvious to all
But when someone’s been paticularly nice, they oughta be thanked. You-all can thank people here, too, if you’re so inclined (hint, hint).
