Super Pocket Atari Edition

I saw this on Facebook and bought a copy and it is pretty cool. It’s a Game boy basically but filled with Atari and Arcade games. It has Adventure which was my favorite Atari game of all time and I have played it a ton already since getting it.

There is apparently a collectors version that is black with wood paneling like the classic Atari 2600 but I don’t have that. Mine is bright red.

There are other cartridges you can get to get even more games but what I have already has something like 50 to choose from so that should be enough for now.

Anyone else have this? What games do you have?

I’ll admit that, by your description, I assumed this was one of the bajillion handheld emulators filled with pirated ROMs and with varying degrees of quality and playability. But I guess it’s an actual licensed product from Atari (or whoever owns the name these days). Neat.

I was also thrown by the product page until I realized that “Atari” included the 2600, 5400, 7200 and Jaguar. I had a moment of “I don’t think my Atari ever looked like THAT” seeing some of the screenshots.

No Atari emulator here. I own a couple collections of old Atari games on PC but, in my case, it’s a heavy lift for nostalgia to outweigh playing modern titles. Five minutes of Yars Revenge and then “Yup, that was Yars Revenge all right…” Cool gadget though.

It has Countermeasure. Which means it can consider itself as officially supporting the 5200.

Note there is (or will be) the Atari GameSation with a trackball and spinner:

Yeah I have played it more since my OP and it is really cool. Battery seems to last also.

Does it have Star Raiders?

That was my favorite Atari game and I was obsessed as a kid. It was ahead of its time. It was also one of the original group of 10 video games submitted for preservation with the Library of Congress.

Here’s an actual link for the lazy.

Thanks for the link. I should have done that. BTW while it says sold out there, it’s available on Amazon which is where I got it.

I couldn’t find a list of games but I can’t see how if there are only a couple of buttons. I had the 5200 version so the control pad had a number pad, not sure how it worked on the 2600 but I thought it needed something extra.

Star Raiders was one of my favorite games, and one of the few I could play really well. I used to like to fly around with no shields and or blow up my own star bases to see how long I could last.

The one I have doesn’t have Star Raiders but there are other cartridges you can buy so it may be on one of those. It is preloaded with 50 games though. Some Atari 2600, 5200 and 7800, the Atari Lynx and some Arcade games.

Oh, man, I remember playing Food Fight. My first system was a 7800.
