I am explaining lions to my son and I was curious about something I “heard about”
I recall hearing about a superpride of lions in Africa that is the result of a superdad.
Normally a male lion will chase away all him sons when they get old enough.
Normally, when a male lion gets old, some younger male lions will come along and beat up the old guy, take his pride and kill all the cubs.
The story I heard was that in one instance the old male lion took all his cubs with him and 7 of his sons survived to adulthood and they went around beating up the male lions in all the other prides and created a superpride of over 50 lions (including cubs).
I’ve beeng trying to google this and can’t find anything. Am I midremembering this or did something like this actually happen. If this actually happened, how many mature male lions were in the pride and how many lions were in the pride at its peak size?
extra credit: some internet resource that has more information about this pride.
