Superfecundatious Chimeras

In today’s classic column, “Is it possible for fraternal twins to have different fathers?” Cecil confirms that not only is it possible, but there is evidence dating back over a hundred years for superfecundation. This begs the question as to whether a superfecundatious chimera would be possible. Such a child would indeed have two dads.

How would the law recognize the parentage of such a child?

Also - for bonus points: Could this be how Gilgamesh was 2/3 god?

A superfecundatious chimera (band name!) still wouldn’t be 2/3 anything-- E’d be 1/2 whatever es mother was, and 1/4 whatever each of es fathers was. Of course, with gods, you never know: Maybe a couple of gods just decided to have a three-way with some hapless mortal, and being gods, it all worked out.

Or, of course, it could be a rounded value of something like 5/8 or 11/16.

Gah! You’re right. Curse you Gilgamesh! I will figure out this 2/3 god thing one day.

No, it doesn’t. It may prompt the question; it may raise the question; but it does not “beg” the question.

Two types of DNA possible from the same father…one type of cell from the tissue and one type of cell from the blood…also different DNA found in differnt parts of tissues…Chimera or mosaic

Same children from the same father…two different DNA’s

Two twins can be from the same parents, one or both of which, have double cells and double DNA…either from the father or mother for that matter…if either one of them is a chimera. There have been findings of mothers who are told that there children are not biologically theirs from cheek swabs. Blood swabs have differnet DNA. Chimeras or mosaics, as in downs…carried different cells. Will blow a hole in the Muary show…you are not the father! And also questions DNA in crime and rape victems where the suspected are proven innocent by only one type of DNA swab.

Same father or mother…the father or mother or both of them can have dual DNA or cells…only one will show on a cheek swab…other DNA is tested from another area of the body of blood DNA
