Supergirl Season 2

I had been assuming that the subtext was she knew and found the charade fun but now I think maybe that is not the case and she really doesn’t know.

A pretty good finale. Liked the Superman slug fest. The Mon el stuff at teh end reminded me of the end of Buffy Season 2 but didn’t effect me as much. Maybe because I’m 20 years older or because I don’t care about these characters as much.

Well, she says “Supergirl” after Kara leaves. Nothing is going to change her mind again now. Not even shape-shifters or robots.

She knows. After her talk with Kara where Kara says, “I gotta go. There’s something I have to do right now,” Cat says “Go get 'em, Supergirl,” and there’s no doubt in her voice.

Ah I missed that so I was right in the first place…

Yep. And Cat Grant is smart enough to know that someone like Kara needs a mentor to help provide direction and encouragement. Kara needs that a lot more than Cat needs a story.

Heh. Slight hijack, but: for the opposite of that, Grant Morrison has said that he wrote Jimmy Olsen as figuring that Clark Kent is Superman – but also as figuring that the big guy must have a good reason for the act, and for not letting Jimmy in on it; so Jimmy figures, hey, if it’s a good enough reason for him, then it’s good enough for me.

And so when Jimmy is doing his schtick, he’s being disingenuous and worldly – but only to the exact extent that he’s an innocent and trusting sort. Oh, sure, he knows more than he lets on – but, no, he doesn’t know why he’s not letting on.

I hope Flockart comes back next year, the show is much better with her. I was a little disappointed that they invented silver kryptonite for the episode, I prefer the standard kryptonite palette.

Agreed. I’d like to see her back more regularly than to top and tail the season, but I’d be happy with semi-regular appearances. No need to shoehorn every character into every episode.

They didn’t invent Silver Kryptonite for the episode. Kryptonite comes in a range of colors and hues, at least in the comics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kryptonite#Forms.2C_colors_and_their_effects

I’m old school. There are green, red, blue, white, and gold varieties. That’s it.

And they’ve already incorporated this episode into the Wikipedia description:

That one’s actually pretty easy. If you can’t pass for human, why would you seek asylum on Earth? Xlykor, the giant, intelligent, oxygen breathing slug is going to go elsewhere. If you are invasion-minded all bets are off, of course.

Signs notwithstanding, if you can’t handle water and/or oxygen, Earth isn’t for you either.

In hindsight, it might have been better to hose them down with Flint water.

Since the king and queen are dead, and there isn’t an obvious successor, the Daxamites are likely to be fighting over who their leader will be for quite a while.

There’s a crown prince, sitting right there. Do the Daxamites not function under ‘The King is dead. Long live the King.’?

Mon-El went through a wormhole, not to the rest of the Daxamite fleet (I think), so he’s not right there…

I agree. Also, the Daxamites might even consider him a traitor, considering that he fought against them.

I noticed that, too. He didn’t go through the portal that Lena created.

Interesting thought - Cat Grant shouted out “fake news.” The President of the U.S. on Earth-38 is a woman (not to mention an alien, but that’s not important right now). Does Earth-38 have their own Donald Trump, who ran against her and lost the election?

So - Rhea has this Silver Kryptonite - why didn’t she just turn SuperGirl to begin with?

Because Rhea hated her.

But I strongly suspect somebody will use it on Kara at some point.

Also, I think Lex will break out of jail next season.

Don’t forget her line about ‘Making this city great again.’ My 17-year-old daughter laughed out loud at that.
