Supers Sentenced to Their Buildings?

Have any building superintendants actually be sentenced by a judge to remain within the confines of their building until necessary repairs are made? I know there was a movie based on this premise and a Hill Street Blues episode, but is it real?
Anyone ever read this in the paper, perhaps? - Jinx

Yes, the movie The Super and the Hill Street Blues episode, as well as episodes of Touched By An Angel and other shows are based on actual cases. It is not the building superintendent, but the landlord (usually an absentee landlord, and often referred to as a “slumlord”) who typically receives such a sentence.

Here is a case from Garden City, Kansas, and another from San Jose, California (scroll down the page a bit).
