Just came across an interesting story on the “products” of the Lebensborn program.
Some estimates on the numbers of lebensborn from Children Of World War II: The Hidden Enemy Legacy, edited by Kjersti Ericsson and Eva Simonsen:
About 10,000 to 12,000 Norwegian/German children.
About 8,000 to 10,000 Dutch/German children. Amazingly, about half of all illegitimate births in the Netherlands during the Occupation!
About one million Russian/German children. This was the Nazis own estimate, and at one point there were plans to give these children the middle names Luise (girls) and Friedrich (boys) in order to identify them later.
About 50,000 French/German children were registered as of May 1942.
